Preventing violence against children in Munsieville

It has been calculated that violence against children costs South Africa 6% of GDP, with over 6 million of SA’s 19 million children reported to have experienced physical or sexual violence. When there is one or no parent in the household, low per capita income, or alcohol/drugs in the home, children are at more risk. If children experience violence, especially if they’re boys, they are more likely to go on and perpetrate violence themselves.
The main protective factor is a stable family and in Munsievlle, the Children’s Embassy and Fhulofhelo Centre in Hope Park provide services and support for parents and carers and a safe place for children, helping them to grow up in a happy, nurturing environment. Find out more at at and
